Inventors of WWW and E-Commerce
Who invented WWW?
According to Andrews (2013) a large number of people such as programmers, engineers and scientists had an impact on inventing the Internet, which means it is impossible to credit a single person for this invention. However, Tim Berners-Lee is called "father of the Internet", because in 1989 he invented the World Wide Web (WWW).
Berners-Lee, while he was working in CERN created software, which could store information in different, connected files, called links. This technique is known presently as hypertext (Dennis, 2021). In next years he was working upon techniques, which allows communicating computers with each other. His main goal was to create software for researchers to share the results of their work without exchanging messages. For this purpose, in 1989 he created first web server and web browser (Dennis, 2021).
